Derived categories in algebraic geometry

This seminar is an introduction to the theory of derived categories, which were originally considered in homological algebra. In the meantime, they play a central rôle in e.g. theoretical physics, representation theory and algebraic geometry. We will examine the derived category of coherent gerbes of smooth, projective varieties and, for the most part, will follow the book of D. Huybrechts (Fourier-Mukai transforms in algebraic geometry). We will especially deal with tringulated categories, Fourier-Mukai transformations and flips and flops.
