Stable Vector Bundles for Heterotic String Theory

We motivate and describe a new class of stable holomorphic vector bundles on elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefolds which lead to heterotic string compactifications without brane impurities and allow to derive the Standard Model gauge group with the corresponding fermionic matter content.
